[a parody]
[no duh]
Once I was seven years old, my momma had me
Start lessons for piano in a hurry
Once I was seven years old
It was a big keyboard, my brother's shadow bigger
Pushing through Bach and Chopin, now that I was learning quicker
By eleven being four-time Dorothy Sutton trophy winner
Among the other kids who always seemed to play it better
Once I was nine years old, my father brought home
A clarinet so I could play it, finally
Once I was nine years old
I always had that dream like other kids before me
I taught myself the saxophone, I started buying more reeds
In seventh grade I made the jazz band, though without much glory
Second 2nd alto only 5 months since beginning
Once I was twelve years old, I had no study halls
'Cause chorus, band, and jazz band took them all
Once I was twelve years old
We started our own phase, although it stemmed from failure
We mashed up songs on ukulele, guitar, and piano
The four of us just harmonizing, alto and soprano
But they were ones with talent, I could only sing the main notes
Once I was thirteen years old, I started writing songs
Just lyrics with a tune, a simple melody
Once I was thirteen years old.
Now I am fourteen years old, my songs don't have a goal
No instrumental that could count as worthy
Now I am fourteen years old.
I'm still learning how to write
The Genius Project's helping
So I can write some real songs
Based on my own favorite story
If I've been doing it wrong
This will be my chance to own it
My songs I had to leave behind
Are trash, dear God, I know it
Soon I'll be fifteen years old, just like more than half the class
Remember past attempts to later make a better one
I made a friend so happy when I learned her favorite song
We share our favorite book, I hope she likes these when I'm done
Soon I'll be fifteen years old, will I think my songs were gold
Or will I go back to only writing song parodies?
Soon I'll be fifteen years old

ALRIGHT, here's a video of me performing that (I apologize for, like, everything about this) because generally everyone has been saying I should post videos on here, so why not start with this. It can only go uphill from here.

Notes:
(1) I don't know how to breathe. [does Lukas Graham actually breathe...ever??]
(2) I don't know how to not look awkward in everything I do.
(3) JESUS CHRIST I DON'T KNOW HOW TO BREATHE.
(4) While we're at it, I don't know how to sing.
(5) The original video was too large and I had to Tone It Down by A LOT to be able to upload it. So...the quality is like 144p. DO NOT HIT FULLSCREEN upon fear of death.
(6) That entire song was way too dramatic for my nondramatic music life.
(7) I'm turning fifteen in August. So...not soon.
(8) Speaking of which, the terrible quality means you can't read the papers, but they don't really say anything except for the age, featuring attempts at drawing instruments and trash cans.
(9) Please do not hurt me for I am already hurting myself by doing these things [NOT LEGIT SELF-HARM I SWEAR DO NOT CALL UPON GUIDANCE]
WOW. I APPLAUD YOU, THE AUTHOR.
ReplyDeleteThat was great. I feel inspired, now (I'm absolutely flattered by my cameo in your excellent song, <3). This was Inspirational. I feel like I could climb a mountain right now.
What an amazing start to your project! I'm so excited to hear more. Also, confession: I hit fullscreen ;)
OMG THAT'S SO NICE!! Someone sign me UP for The Voice. And yeah we really had a phase ;)
DeleteAlso why on earth did you hit fullscreen smh (my name's blurryface and i care what you think)

ReplyDeleteTHAT'S ME RIGHT
MASHUPS
ME?
MAYBE?
Also your whole blog is 10/10 (as is everything you do)
You try and write songs and then mash them up with my songs?
Idk man
Do you have an idea for an interview? I have some people I think you might find ~rad~
(you're incredible I love you omg)
omg what a babe!!
Deleteand you betcha ;)
Currently my interview idea is my brother because he's been playing piano for 20 years and likes composing songs, just without lyrics. I would love some More Suggestions tho !!
